Indonesian singer-songwriter Pamungkas has released a new version of ‘Be Okay Again Today’ ahead of ‘Solipsism 0.2’, which is an album-length rework of his 2020 LP.
This new version of the track deviates from the original’s sparse arrangement, opting for rich synth flourishes, horns, live drums, and multi-tracked vocals, pushing its runtime over six minutes.
The song features a new verse towards the end, imbuing the refrain “Remember what we used to sing / Bring back the happiness, amen” with singalong vocal harmonies.
‘Solipsism 0.2’, set to be released on February 3 via Mas Pam Records, promises a dramatically different take on his third album, reworking the order of the original tracklist and adding a new song, ‘Hello (Voice Memo)’, along with it.
The new album was largely self-produced and recorded in isolation, a process which Pamungkas documented in a series of vlogs on YouTube.
Solipsism’, released in June 2020, marked Pamungkas’ first album as a full-time artist, he said in an interview with Bandwagon Asia. “When I was 16, I had a dream that I wanted to do music every day when I’m older. Now that I’m older, 10 years later, I have the chance to do music every day and I want to make the best out of it,” he said.
Last year, Pamungkas also topped Indonesia’s Spotify Wrapped lists as the country’s most-streamed local and male artist. The artist currently counts over two million monthly listeners on the platform.
